When your world is falling apart, don’t push yourself to be ‘normal’.
(what even is ‘normal’?)
This morning I had a mentoring call booked with one of my gorgeous clients.
Just before each call I conduct a quick check of social media activity for any instant pointers we need to address.
Something wasn’t right. Consistency had plummeted over the last few weeks, very unlike them.
They were late in calling and when they did, the first voice on the other end was small.
“Not feeling great. It’s been a tough few weeks. A close friend has died.”
Followed by tears.
We postponed the call and I left her business partner consoling her.
Why do we do this?
Drastic stuff happens but we pressurise ourselves to carry on with the day to day grind. Not allowing space for grieving, processing it all, or just being.
- Cuddle puppies or kittens
- Be with loved ones
- Breathe fresh air
- Listen to music
WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO.
If you’re having a wobbly day or three – cancel those business calls and meetings. Focus on you.
People understand (if they don’t they are a dick!)
